When using a standard wired or stationary scanner, you usually have to bring the object to the scanner or at least close enough to your terminal that the wire is long enough for you to get the scanner to the barcode. But with a handheld wireless scanner, you can bring your gun to the item and point it in hard to reach places. This is great if you deal with big, bulky items or keep a lot of inventory far from your terminal that you'd like to track. The included cable is about 4 ft long and also transmits data when plugged into your computer or POS machine. But with the 60 hour battery life on a full charge, you won't have to have this scanner plugged in often. The scanner functions as you would expect. It reads only 1D type barcodes (UPC, ISBN etc.) so no 2D or QR codes. You should also note that you won't be able scan barcodes on mobile devices or computer screens. That's just a limitation of these types of scanners. The wireless receiver is plug-and-play and there was no additional setup on the computer that was needed. Note that on page 2 of the manual it says this model has a standard Bluetooth protocol, but I'm not sure that applies to this model (TT-BS021) as I was unable to get my computer to pickup any Bluetooth signal with the scanner in range. Originally, I think I had seen this feature listed in the product description on Amazon as well, but it's not there now. The 2.4 GHz wireless receiver works great up to 30 feet away. But you can also use the scanner to record barcodes remotely when set to inventory mode. Simply scan your items, then dump the barcodes into your system by scanning the "upload" command when you get back within range of the receiver. Another error I found in the manual occurred when testing the "data statistics" barcode in inventory mode; it doesn't function as expected. It should output the number/count of barcodes stored in memory but the command is the same as the "upload data" barcode and it just spits out all the data that is stored. I'm sure the correct command is out there somewhere, but you'll have to request the correct code from Taotronic's Support. The functionality, however, of the barcode scanner is very good. The rubberized and recessed face keeps scratches off the laser eye and the read outs are accurate. Audible beeps and tones let you know when your scans are successful or not, but it takes a little getting used to which sound means what. The materials seems durable and well-made, however, with limited body protection, I wouldn't be comfortable dropping this thing or putting anything on top of it. That said, a suggestion for improvement would be to include some sort of stand or docking station. The scanner laser works at a wide range of angles and, as suggested by the manual, works best when the gun isn't pointed exactly perpendicular to the barcode. That is, aim the barcode scanner at a slight to 45 degree angle to the barcode and it will scan more easily (a bit counter-intuitive). I received this product as a sample for my full and unbiased review.

The scanner has a nice size and weight to it. Its small enough that it is comfortable in your hands and is still lightweight to where you wont get tired of holding it for long periods of time. It comes with a cable to charge or for data transfer, a 2.4 GHz receiver, the scanner itself, and a very helpful user guide. The scanner is wireless, so it does not need to be plugged in to function. It has a 1500 mAh lithium battery that is rated to last up to 60 hours on a full charge. Mine came with battery and I still haven't had the need to charge it. The USB receiver is plug and play and worked when I put it in my Win 8.1 PC. Like I said earlier, the scanner had a nice feel to it. It is very lightweight and perfect for a small store, office, business, or school. The manual provided is amazing! It provides step by step instructions along with a lot of barcodes that can be scanned to change different settings. The scanner can be used with the provided wire but the wireless really allows this device to shine. It perfectly transmitted all the barcodes I had to scan wirelessly without any issues. It is a great option for the price and works exactly as described! I would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive wireless barcode scanner!

We bought 4 of these to use at our fair in July. I've been experimenting with them and they seem to read great with the cord or with the wireless adapter. I had some questions and did get an answer from support within 24 hours. The price was awesome for a scanner with wireless capabilities. If you have a need for multiple scanners, remember to mark the scanner and the wireless adapter with bright nail polish or something like that as the adapters are paired to the specific scanner. These paired with my laptop with no problems also. I'll update after my fair in July to tell you how they worked in the real world. UPDATE 8/25: These scanners worked great! I was very pleased, they paired easily with all of the laptops and we had no problems with them working with the program. I'd recommend them for any application.

The fact that it is wireless is extremely convenient. I was worried about the need to constantly charge it, but the battery is a beast for what the device is tasked to do. It goes forever. I have nothing negative to report. I strongly recommend this scanner.

I use handheld scanners at work for various reasons including general inventory. I was provided this sample as a review copy in return for my honest opinions of the scanner. Please let me know if you have any questions. Pairing: This device comes with a USB receiver and my Windows 7 laptop recognized it and installed the needed drivers within a minute or so. This was all I needed to in order to use it with my laptop! Charging: It includes a USB charging cable and I was able to use it with a multi-port USB power brick with no issues. The manual indicates it should last for 60 hours, I have not run that many tests but it has be able to scan so far whenever I use it. Powering on/off: A simple press of the trigger enables the scanner to work and holding the trigger for about 6 seconds turns it off. You know it is powered off when there are two beeps. Look: This scanner is good size and appears to be solidly constructed. Usage: After installing the receiver I opened a Google spreadsheet and scanned several barcodes and they automatically appeared in the spreadsheet and were correct. I then walked away from my laptop and scanned several more. The scanner made a different sound so I knew it was not communicating with my laptop. As soon as I came within range of my laptop it sent the scans to the spreadsheet and notified me by sound that the scan was complete. This would be great for doing an inventory and not being within proximity of a computer. The manual says the on-board memory can store thousands of scans. Pros: Long-life internal battery Ease of use and connectivity Cons: There isn't anything I don't like about this unit Product Recommendations: I would like to see a holder for the receiver built-in to the handle. This would prevent losing it and making sure the receiver stays with the individual scanner for locations with more than one. I would also recommend a slightly larger and flat base on the handle so you could set it down and have it stand up. It does stand up as designed but it isn't overly stable in that position. Overall: I am impressed with this scanner and would recommend it based on the price and ease of use. Unlike some of the other reviews I was able to use immediately out of the box and find that it scans just as quickly as others do.

Does this scanner really not emit radiation when it scans? Does the manufacturer guarantee this? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: There are two types of radiation. One is what you think of as being associated with nuclear energy and bombs, and emits particles as a byproduct of atoms decaying. Diode lasers certainly do not emit this form of radiation. The other type is electromagnetic radiation, and everything that produces radio waves and light emits this. Your lamp, your computer monitor, even your body (this is how FLIR cameras can see your body heat in the dark because heat is radiated as infrared light). In this way, diode lasers do emit radiation. Besides the laser, this scanner has a 2.4Ghz radio built in that also emits electromagnetic radiation.

Is it possible to disable the "Successfull Scan Beep"? I haven't found a cofniguration Barcode for this in the manual sadly. Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: There are volume settings. Search for CT20 user manual (made by same Chinese manufacturer and shares a lot of the same setup codes). It would be 1340590260 to mute (printed as a Code128-B barcode)

Except the wireless function, what's the difference between this scanner and this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006LVO56W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_ Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Wireless is not only the communication between the gun and your computer - it also means that the gun has a battery and you can walk around collecting scans in Inventory mode (to download later when you return to your PC). You would have to get manuals for both scanners to compare features. For instance, some scanners allow you to specify a Scanner ID and include that data with each scan. If something like that is important to you, then be sure that the feature is listed in the manual before making a purchase.
