I have recently gotten the GPS module for the TT-CD05 Car Dashboard Camera. This module tracks your coordinates and imbeds them into the video. You can view the footage and track your cars path using the provided software. The software uses google maps to map out the path your car took, it also tells you the speed of the car in km/h, a compass is provided to tell you the direction your car was going, and it plots the X, Y, Z coordinates. Not only will you be able to see an accident happen with the video footage but you can now pinpoint where it happened, this will make it a lot easier to find out who was at fault. You can also take snapshots of the accident after the fact using their software (a picture icon is shown in the screenshot provided). The GPS module is small enough to hide behind the rear view window. There is a lot of cable so what I did was wrap the cable around my rearview mirror until I got a desired length and put the GPS module where I wanted. This way the cable is not visible. It connects to the GPS jack; a small satellite icon will appear and will change to yellow once connection is established. Software: Video Plays on the top left side, GPS is shown on the top right side, Speed and Position are shown on the bottom right side, and finally the X, Y, Z coordinates are plotted on the bottom left side. A mini DVD is provided so some computer might have a problem getting the software. You can download the software from the Taotronics support-downloads page under car accessories you will see “GPS Module for the …” (once the site is available). You are provided the replay software “TPS.exe” and a codec pack to ensure that you can play the video without any problems. The Software keeps track of the videos that were played for easy playback. Some issues I have found with the software is that it is not always accurate, sometimes it shows the car taking a path that is not even possible to take (see pictures). The speed indicator is also in km/h and as of right now there is no way to change this to mph. When in full screen you lose control ability, you can’t play/pause/skip/etc.… Overall I am happy with it; they will need to update their software to have more accurate GPS tracking and being able to change the speed Units. I was provided a free sample for an honest review.
