When I purchased my first dash-cam, I was looking for the best low-end option. After reading reviews I picked GS8000L, but I wasn't satisfied. The next step was the middle category. The TaoTronics TT-CD05 is in the middle if we consider the price, but the quality is close to (or at) the high-end cameras (according to the images I saw on the reviews of high-end devices). I don't want to list the features you can see in the product description, I will compare to my old GS8000L instead. Both cameras have 1080 pixels, but this guy looks a real HD. (See my enclosed pictures. The TT-CD05 on the top, the GS8000L on the bottom.) You still need good light and a little luck to actually read the plate numbers, but at least it is possible, unlike with the GS8000L. The difference in the night captures is more significant. (I also attached night time pictures.) For the GS8000L I had to turn off the voice recording because it was so awful. The TT-CD05 has no issue with record the surrounding noises. The conversations and the music in the radio are easily recognizable. The car's background noise is noticeable but not disturbing. I had some other issues with my old camera such as missing recordings, difficulties at sunset/sunrise, but the TaoTronics' camera free of these glitches. It is also a nice bonus that they included a 32MByte SanDisk microSD card. Long story short. If you sick of the extremely bad quality low-end cameras, but don't want to spend a fortune on the high-end devices, this dash-cam can be a good choice.

This is my first time owning a dash cam and I am pretty satisfied with it. I like the camera, the video comes out crisp and clear. You can easily identify license plates and people’s faces. It is a bit difficult to view oncoming car plates when viewing the playback. This is a given but if your windshield is not clean your camera will pick up all the dirt/streaks which can make the cars in the video harder to see. The camera can go behind the rear-view mirror if you want (see pictures) but I decided to move it since my toll tag was covering the entire right side view of the camera. I ended putting the camera next to my rear view mirror on the driver’s side (I also have screen saver active so It doesn’t distract me when I am driving). I like having the camera turn on and off automatically so I have the usb cable attached to it. So far I have only tested my camera during the morning/afternoon and it works great. If the sun shine directly onto your camera you will get a glare. If you have a USB plug adapter/charger in your car you can use that instead of the cigarette charger provided. The G-sensor is pretty spot on. If you make any abrupt stops or the car feels some movement like a gust of wind then the camera will immediately put the video in a special folder called RO. Once you run out of space on your SD card the camera will overwrite old video files but the files in RO will remain untouched until you manually delete them. If the camera is off and it feels a sudden movement it will turn on and start recording and put that file in the RO folder. For the most part I didn’t change the default settings on the camera, it is good enough the way it is setup. The default loop is set to 3 min so roughly every 3 min recorded @1080FHD = 289 MB, you get about 110 clips before it starts to re-write old files not in the RO folder. The audio also works great it can pick up the smallest sounds like using your blinkers or if you are messing with something in your car (like getting change from the cup holder). As for the camera I would have like if there was flash, it is not a deal breaker but it would be a nice thing to add to the next version. Overall I am satisfied with this product. It looks nice and doesn’t attract a lot of attention if hidden behind rear-view mirror. It is light so you can carry it with you and treat it as a regular camera to document your adventures. Even though the camera is on the driver’s side I can still see the cars to my left and to my right. I may buy another one to mount on the back of my car. ***NOTE: I have received ZERO compensation or consideration from anyone for this review.*** This is a really great dash cam. First, and foremost, it takes fantastic video footage. I really appreciated this when playing back the video on my computer or TV. And it includes a 32 GB memory card (the max allowable). It's exceedingly easy to setup and use, with practically no learning curve at all. It has a wealth of features: video quality settings, time and date stamp, loop recording, even the ability to include your vehicle license plate or other ID on the video, to name just a few. It's also a photographic camera as well. Love the Auto Start feature when it's plugged into the cigarette lighter. Start your vehicle and the camera turns on and starts recording immediately. You can even set the Auto Start to delay starting to record for 10, 20, or 30 seconds. The same options are even available when you turn off your vehicle. The cord on the included cigarette lighter adapter is quite generous in length. This allows you to hide the cord along the windshield and dashboard trim. Loop recording can be set to make a new recording file every 2, 3, or 5 minutes. That amounts to 30, 20, or 12 video files, respectively, per hour of continuous recording. And the new recordings have a 1-second overlap. So, the new one contains the last second of the previous one. FYI at the highest resolution (1920 x 1080), 5-minute recordings are ~486 MB each, 3-minute ones are ~282 MB, and 2-minute ones are ~188 MB. The significance of this, at least for me, becomes apparent when transferring the files to a computer or tablet via the included USB cable. It appears to be USB 2. This means transferring multiple 486 MB (5-minute) files will not be a very fast operation, to say the least. When the memory card becomes full, it automatically deletes the oldest recording to make room. There are 2 exceptions: a) you can manually lock a recording(s) to prevent it being overwritten or b) the GSensor feature. If the camera receives a jarring shock (or is shaken) while recording, the camera will automatically lock the currently recording file. This feature can either be turned off or set to low, medium (default) or high sensitivity. Based on your vehicle's front-end size you will need to experiment with where on your windshield you want to place the camera. Too low and you film a lot of your vehicle's hood (along with any reflection). Speaking of the windshield, you quickly come to appreciate how clean it is (or not) when playing back the video on a large screen. The camera can be rotated easily 360°, but stays in place once you've done so. While recording, the mic can quickly be muted or unmuted with the touch of the down arrow button. The rotation allows you to record selfie video or the occupants. Please note that this becomes virtually useless when it's dark. This camera does not have any lighting of its own, like some other cameras that have a front LED. Finally, the included manual is a very small book containing (good) English as well as several other languages. I recommend downloading the online PDF, however. It's larger (or can be made so) and offers a little more of a detailed explanation of all the camera's features. And this camera truly has a lot of features.

Yes, I am one of the few that actually paid full price for this camera instead of writing a fake review :) Please see my video review which focuses on clips instead of specs (you can read the specs in the item description). Remember, the video quality is reduced by 1) Me reducing the quality of the video to meet Amazon's video size limit, and 2) Amazon reducing the video quality themselves. Overall I am pleased with this camera. I have it installed in my 2000 Honda Accord. The power adapter is nice and long and I wrapped it along the top of my windshield to the left side of my dash, then underneath my floor covers. Looks nice and inconspicuous. Takes great hi-def vids and starts right up when I turn the keys. I did NOT get this item for free :)

One of the best things about having a dash cam, HD car digital video recorder, is the fact that you can now be proactive. A few short years ago I had not one, but two vehicles totaled within a short period of time. There was no doubt as to who was the cause of these accidents, but that sort of thing is not always cut and dried. If you’ve ever had to deal with an insurance agency to settle a claim, it’s best to be prepared. Another issue to think about is the simple traffic violation. Going through lights for example. If you have a dash cam running there will be no quibbling if you are in the right when you hit traffic court. The TaoTronics Car Dash Cam covers all the angles, almost literally, with two 180° adjustable camera with that 150° viewing angle. When I look at the high-resolution, it’s easy to see just how much can be seen (and how clearly) from the camera. No, I didn’t just get the dash cam yesterday, rather it’s been in use for a few months now. It was set up in minutes and has been in use ever since. The three-step installation made it quite easy and unlike one other dash cam I had, almost intuitive. If you opt for the car charger powered option, there’s no messing around pressing buttons anytime you get it the car. The DVR will automatically come on and begin recording. Just a cautionary note here, it’s also so sensitive it will record conversations in your vehicle unless you shut it off in the video settings. Does this camera support class 10 128gb sd cards? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Short answer: YES, but you need to do a few things to get it working. Long answer: Allow me to dispel something really quick. This camera OFFICIALLY supports 32GB microSD cards, but that does not mean higher capacities won't work. I purchased two 128GB microSD cards alongside these cameras and tried to insert them, but they both came back with an error. Even formatting them on the camera themselves didn't work. Here's the problem: the cameras only support the FAT32 format and won't format 128GB microSD cards. If you try to format 128GB microSD cards on Windows as FAT32, you won't see that option. In order to format them as FAT32, look up "fat32format". I used a program provided by ridgecrop. Once they're formatted, insert them into the cameras. I get roughly 24 hours of footage saved on each card at the 1920x1080 resolution with WDR and Sound Recording on.

Can you disable the looping? So it records the whole video at one time, and doesn't break it up into 3-5 minute increments? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Sorry, but the other answers are absolutely incorrect. You CAN turn off loop recording, and it will record one long video. I am doing it now.
