It depends on how tall your monitor is. In its normal position the lamp arm is at a 90 degree angle and the lamp head sits at a 90 degree angle form the end of the arm. The lamp head sits at approximately 1 ft 2.5 inches above the base (measuring from the base up). I would recommend measuring the height of you monitor to ensure the light will shine over the top of it. Then form there you can make your decision on a purchase. If you have some room behind you monitor you could maybe put the lamp up on something to give it more height. You can also tilt the lamp head if needed (it tilts 180 degrees). Or you can tilt the arm 95 degrees, but you might sacrifice some height. The power cord seems long enough to reach outlets that may be further away. The LED's seem bright enough to light up a good sized area. In my opinion depending on your setup I believe this lamp would be a great choice.
