I believe you could scan directly into a spreadsheet. The scanner can be set up (or maybe is by default) to essentially replace keyboard input. You could scan a bar code directly into a cell in a spreadsheet. When testing our scanner, I have just opened a blank word processer page, and started scanning barcodes. The scanner just "types" the scanned bar code into the page, and even throws in a carriage return so that the next scan happens on a new line. This was all done with the default factory settings on the scanner.
Yes it scans UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN 8, and EAN 13 which are the most common retail product barcodes. It doesn't scan RSS codes like QR or G1. I improved my scan rate by putting the scanner in a stand.
That would depend on which barcode format the library system chose to use. These guns can read quit several barcode formats by default and they can have their output tweaked by scanning codes in the manual. You need to ask your system admin as to what barcode format your system uses, I'm willing to bet it is a standard format. Or just take a chance and return it, you may have to eat a restocking fee but these guns aren't that expensive so the fee won't be so bad. In the past few years I have bought 9 of these guns. They work great. Corporate IT always wants me to buy their suggested $200+ guns but I buy these and save the money for monitors and misc office stuff. I have not had one go bad yet.
