This is a fast and easy to use wireless barcode scanner. It comes with an AC wall charger, an instruction manual that does not tell you much, a 2.4 GHz receiver and the scanner itself. The cable from the AC wall charger to the scanner is 47 inches long. There is also a Lithium battery in the box that you may have to install. The lithium battery has a capacity of 750 mAh and it can be charged in about 2.5 hours. It will scan for 30 hours before it needs to be recharged. The USB receiver was plug and play on my laptop that I used for the test and it operated on a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz. The effective transmission distance between the scanner and the USB receiver is 30 to 50 meters or 100 to 165 feet. The scanner is very lightweight as it only weighs 5 .5 ounces. It is ideal for a small store, office, warehouse, business or for a home hobbyist. The unit is designed so you cannot lay it on the laser screen to get it scratched. The instruction manual is very uninformative but it does have a lot of barcodes that you can scan to change the unit's registration number, language, baud rate and many other features important features. In my case I took it out of the box and it worked perfectly with my laptop computer without any changes. I am an avid collector and there exists some good software out there that helps you gather detailed data for movie DVDs, books, music and comic books. You can use a laser scanner to read in the bar code and the software will add the item to your data base and do hours of data collection and posting in seconds to help you build your database of your collection. (Please see my video) It can save you days of work using this scanner and the software. Please note that the software comes from another company. I like this wireless scanner a lot. I now will purchase the software to collect the data for my book and movie collection. This scanner will save you hours of work and help to accurately document your inventory quickly and easily. I rate this scanner as a 5 star item and recommend it to you. I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.

I first got TaoTronics' wired scanner and was please with it. Finding the limitations of the wired unit inconvenient at times and wanting a backup in case of an unexpected failure, I searched for a wireless unit and found this one. Now my poor wired unit sits lonely on the edge
I first got TaoTronics' wired scanner and was please with it. Finding the limitations of the wired unit inconvenient at times and wanting a backup in case of an unexpected failure, I searched for a wireless unit and found this one. Now my poor wired unit sits lonely on the edge of the desk waiting for attention- I used my wireless for everything now. The battery doesn't have any issues and it hasn't run out of juice on me and I only charge it maybe once a week. In short, I love it and glad I bought it. One downfall is the manual is a little short on instructions, it has all the barcodes to changes settings but you'd better be able to figure it out with only a short label below it.

The device is a life saver when it comes to scanning inventory. Its 2.4G Wireless Bar Code Scanner which looks robust. The package includes wireless scanner, 3.7V 750mAH Li-ion battery, receiver and usb charger. The wireless charger can be charged by connecting it to a computer but I highly recommend charging with wall charger. The device will charge faster. Once fully charged the devices last more than 24 hours. The wireless scanner makes life easier because you can move the scanner around especially when you need to scan an item which is really heavy. This is a plug and play device. Once the receiver is plugged in, it automatically installs the required drivers. The range for the wireless scanner is more than 20 meter that gives you a lot of room to use the devices without worrying about the range. Having a wireless scanner is way better than a wired one because you are able to scan all around your facility rather than sitting at one place. This device is perfect for personal, small and large business use. I use the device to manage my inventory and scan my personal dvd collection. The scanner is good quality and robust and allow the user to scan the bar code at variety of angle. The scanner is set to default setting which means it would start working soon you start scanning bar codes. Some people might want to personalize some setting such as adding prefix or changing the power sleep time. The user manual allows changing all the settings for the scanner. All you have to do is scan the specific codes on the manual to which you want it to change. The manual allows you to change all the setting on the scanner and if you don't like it then you can reset to the default by scanning the default scanning bar code. Overall I highly recommend this product. The wireless bar code scanner has a huge range which allows using scanner all over your facility. The scanner can also be used for personal use to organize your collection such as DVD collection. The scanner can be used with MS Excel or with some third party scanning software. The user manual is user friendly and allows you to configure setting on the scanner.

Light weight and easy to use, either connected or separately (uploads through a wireless USB connection either way). What I especially appreciated was that when the scanner turned out to be defective, the company responded quickly, asking for data (reasonable request) and then when it judged it defective, replied that it was sending a replacement. I now have the replacement and it has been but a few days total. Exceptional service.

Read the manual first. It's set to go sleep mode in few sec after each scan by default. You have to wait for 5 sec or so to wake it up. To change the setting, you have to scan some special codes in the manual. Once we change the setting, it works perfect!!

1.Does this scanner beep loud when you are scanning a barcode? Customers are chatting about this View conversation

2.Does this support functions like tab key, down arrow, and enter? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: I don't know what you mean
3.Does this scan QR codes? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: No
4.Does this scan 2d barcodes? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: No, I do not think so.
5.Does it work with mac os 11? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Yes, I use it in keyboard mode and it works reliably.
6.Does this use manual mode and only scan when you push the trigger? I do not want automatic. Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: It is not automatic and only scans when you push the trigger
7.Is this a UPC Scanner? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Yes, it is..I got it six months ago and it works very well for me. I am still using it now for my business.
8.does this work with Quickbooks POS 2013 ? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: It works with everything accepting input from the keyboard. Think of it as keyboard just instead of typing it reads what to "type" as bar code.
9.Is this a UPC Scanner & does it come with a USB cable? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Yes
10.Linux compability? Customers are chatting about this View conversation
A: Don't know. I only ran on Windows. It would be a function of the drivers for the USB dongle device that accepts input from the bar code reader. On windows, once you get the dongle device working, the barcode scanner just emulates a keyboard and the software program where you are inputting the barcode data is unaware that entry is happening with a device other than the keyboard. Bottom line, I don't know but probably worth the $70-$100 risk to see for yourself.
